Is it me, or do other women feel naked without their jewellery? Over the years, our favourites become like old friends, to be worn in good times and in bad times. They keep us looking good when all around us fails.

Take a watch for example. For years I alternated with watches. I bought them as fashion accessories and wore them whenever I felt like it. Then I discovered 'the one'. Expensive, more than I had ever spent on anything before apart from a car and a house. But it felt right.

Now this faithful watch has served me, as the only one, for over five years. The amazing thing is that I always feel good in it. I have probably saved money over the years as I have never felt the need to buy another watch.

Then there is the jewellery. As many women do, I accumulated rings and necklaces over the years, more than enough to fill a cupboard. Much of it I wore once or twice, and in some cases not at all, but then there are about ten pieces that have served me through all this time. A diamond ring, a solid gold necklace, a silver pendant and a couple of gold rings.

The point is, why waste money and time buying fashion jewellery? Buy a few core items and they will serve you faithfully throughout your life.
